About Dan Brabender
Dan Brabender has been involved in Erie sports in many different facets, but his greatest contribution has been as Erie’s foremost high school sports researcher and historian. In his tenth year ad Judge int eh Court of Common Please, he has authored several extensively-researched publications that chronicle the history of Erie high school sports, including “RAMBLERS, the History of Cathedral Prep Football, 1924-1999,” “That Championship Season: The Story of the 2000 Cathedral Prep Ramblers,” “Cathedral Prep Basketball Chronicles, 1924-2017” and his most recent publication “Sports Heroes of the Erie School District.” Dan served as president of the Erie Area Soccer Association for nine years; and for 25 years played soccer and coached at Fairview High School, Strong Vincent High School, St. George’s, Our Lady of Peace and Villa Maria Elementary. He is the only Parochial League coach to win championships at three different schools – St. George’s 1998, OLP 2010, and VME 2012. Dan enjoyed playing ice hockey, softball and running 10-K’s; and now enjoys hunting and fishing. He wrestled at Cathedral Prep and was captain his senior year; and played rugby at the University of Dayton and was captain his senior year.
