About Dave Wickersham

In the early 1950’s, Dave Wickersham was a multi-sports star in East Springfield. Upon graduating from high school, he played for two years at Ohio University, then signed a professional baseball contract and went on to pitch in the major leagues for 10 full seasons.

In 1964, Wick won 19 games for the Detroit Tigers. He was also a big winner for the Kansas City A’s. Dave finished his career as a strong reliever with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Kansas City Royals.

Respected for his strong religious beliefs, Wickersham was one of the first pro athletes to become active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
