About Khyl Horton

Khyl excelled in basketball in high school and collegiately. He is Mercyhurst Prep’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder. He led the Lakers to the 1991 PIAA State Championship, defeating Wilkes-Barre GAR 58-55 in the title game. He had 20 points and 11 rebounds. Khyl is the third all-time leading scorer in Erie history with 1,886 points. He was a three-time All-Metro League selection and two-time all-state honoree and was selected a McDonald’s All-American. In addition, he was named the MVP of the Dapper Dan All-Star Game and was a Keystone State Games gold medalist.

He would play two years at Division I George Mason before completing his career at Gannon. He would total over 1,500 career points as a collegian. In 48 games at George Mason, he averaged 10.3 ppg. and 5.9 rpg. In 1993-94 as a sophomore, he averaged 12.8 ppg. and 8.0 rpg. after averaging 8.5 ppg. and 4.5 rpg. as a freshman. In two seasons at Gannon, Khyl scored 784 points while averaging 16.7 ppg. He averaged 13.4 ppg. and 5.6 rpg. in 1994-95 in 22 games, then led Gannon with 19.6 ppg., adding 6.3 rpg., in 1996-97.
